I've been a vegetarian since I was a teen so I've had plenty of opportunities to discover a justification either by my on reflection on the issue or by people trying to persuade me that that I should eat meat like they do. The best justification I've found is something along the lines of "animals are killed in the wild all the time so what I'm doing is ok". But imagine a convicted murder saying something like "people are killed all the time by natural causes so what I did is OK". What confuses me though is that you've discovered a moral principle and articulated it very well in this article. Why do you stand on other moral principle (I'm sure your a principled and moral person) but not on this one? I doubt you will find a justification.
